I learned fact checking in the rigor of The Atlantic editorial department working for the magazine for many years. Now I run my own business, Sabele Editorial — fact checking for scores of books, magazine articles and podcasts. I also offer first-rate research — from in-depth to filling in areas where authors need more details or sourcing to writing endnotes.

HILARY McCLELLEN

I am a fact checker and researcher and owner of Sabele Editorial. I live in Madison, Wisconsin, with my family, including a goofy border collie/shepherd dog, cats, and backyard chickens.

I love reading, cooking, yoga. Some of my favorite things are taking photographs, cookbooks, gin martinis, any beach. I like reading history, fiction, and classics. I believe you can never have too many books or too much chocolate.
